Using bug bounty along side full-time employment is a solid means to attain FIRE. (Financial Independence/Retire Early)
Assume you use your job to cover your regular bills and expenses.
How much bug bounty work would you have to do to get ahead?
Using this chart from https://fourpillarfreedom.com we can see that if you start at 20 and can stow away $10k a year from bug bounty earnings, you should be able to call yourself a millionaire at 50 years of age.
This chart assumes savings are being dumped into an index that returns 7% annual interest rate.
S&P500 annual returns have been historically around 10.5% so the tickers VOO or FXAIX may accelerate this chart.
So the point of this post is to help you set a yearly goal for your bug bounty.
Set the goal of $10k/yr and enjoy your million at 50.
Set the goal of $20k/yr and enjoy your million at 42.
Set the goal of $60k/yr and enjoy your million at 31.
